Channelling the Inner Princess

Remember the days of pretending you were the princess; dreaming of your own ‘happy ever after’?

Inspired by the Disney princesses from including Rapunzel to Snow White to Belle; Alfred Angelo and his wife; Edythe Piccione set up their bridal label; in the mid-1930s with the intention to make ‘dreams come true’ on one of the biggest days of many ladies lives. Today the company continues to have international success within the bridal industry.

The latest collection is absolutely beautiful; the dresses actually took my breath away and gave me little butterflies and goosebumps.

As a child growing up Cinderella was always my favourite; although I did love Sleeping Beauty (because she wore a pink dress) and the Cinderella dress of Collection 1 (Style 205) is stunning.

This particular dress designed with Cinderella’s glass slipper in mind has sparkling crystal beading and rhinestones on it. The dress made of tulle and glitter net over taffeta has a draped criss-cross bodice, sweetheart neckline and semi-cathedral train. I think it is so beautiful because it has such intricate detailing without being too over-the-top and I love the fitted bodice but full skirt style.

The dresses are a credit to the designers; as so much thought has gone into the gowns. For instance the Ariel (Style 210) of Collection 1; the cascading ruffles of Taffeta and Satin Organza mirror the oceans waves that Ariel calls home. The decorated one shoulder design creates a splash and the soft, floatly style reflects the rhythm of the sea.

Another of my favourites is the Special Addition Rapunzel Dress of Collection 2 (Style 208).

This gown has little satin petals sewn to the dress on the one-shoulder and from the waist down that have a three-dimensional style. The bodice which is pleated also has a sweetheart neckline and the back laces up giving the dress an air of sexiness. This dress with the Chapel train is so elegant and the petals give it that floaty feel; perfect for a laid-back princess. Again, the design looks so well-made and follows the shape and natural curves of a woman so well; it is a beautiful design and deserves its spot at Kensington Palace in London for Rapunzel’s Royal Celebration.

I also love the Snow White dress (Style 207) of Collection 1. It’s amazing dress with bow detail to the back finishes the dress perfectly. The strapless bodice decorated beautifully with little flowers finished with crystals and rhinestones in the centre is breath-taking as is the beautiful skirt with an organza overlay that is also embroidered.

And with a slogan like “Dreams come true” and the comment “Your Fairytale Awaits” the collection would swoon anyone. They are beautifully made and such thought is behind them; you would definitely feel like a princess in one.
